Modern Life Is War (commonly abbreviated as MLIW) is a Marshalltown, Iowa-based melodic hardcore punk band. They are known for their unique take on the melodic hardcore and hardcore punk sound, usually avoiding standard songs structures and almost entirely abandoning the use of breakdowns. On February 9th, 2007, MLIW announced they had signed with Equal Vision Records and released their record titled 'Midnight in America on August 21, 2007. Their first 7" was released on Lifeline Records.
